Under the Friday night lights at the newly constructed Memorial Stadium, the Alice Coyote football team faced off against the La Joya Palmview Lobos for the stadium’s inaugural game.
For months, Alice fans, players, and students patiently waited for one moment, this moment, to witness history in the making at the new Memorial Stadium.
Let’s just say, the Alice Coyotes understood the assignment. The Coyotes began the game with possession of the ball and by halftime, the Coyotes were leading the Lobos with a score of 15-7.
The first touchdown of the night was scored by Landon Guerra, with Ryder Salaiz scoring the next three touchdowns. The Coyotes also put up a strong defensive performance tonight, holding the La Joya Lobos to just one touchdown and one extra point.
The night ended with a victory for the Alice Coyotes, giving the team a memorable start to a new era as they opened their new home in front of their home crowd.
