The Alice Independent School District is celebrating after the Texas Education Agency (TEA) revealed their 2025-2026 accountability ratings for the school district.
The TEA is responsible for public education in Texas, including the creation of curriculum standards, administering statewide tests, such as STAAR, accrediting schools, and managing teacher certification, among other duties.
TEA also performs thorough assessments of public school districts and their campuses, to ensure that local school districts are following statewide standards and guarantee students are receiving quality education. TEA campus ratings are based on academic measurements, specifically whether or not students are learning, ready for the next grade, and prepared for success after high school.
This year, Alice ISD scored an 86 (B) on TEA’s overall district assessment, which is a significant improvement over last year’s 80 (B) grade. The overall district rating is determined by calculating the individual scores each of the district’s campuses received.
Diving deeper into the numbers, Alice High School and Schallert Elementary received the highest ratings of any campus in the district, both scoring an incredible 90 (A) on TEA’s assessment. William Adams Middle School received an 82 (B) this year, improving from last year’s 77 (C) score. Dubose Elementary scored 81 (B) followed by Noonan Elementary, which scored 77 (C) on the TEA’s assessment, a slight improvement over last year’s 76 (C) grade.
Faculty, staff, and administrators celebrated the news, creating banners to celebrate their incredible achievements. “Thank you to campus administrators, staff, students, parents, families, community members, and the Alice ISD Board of Trustees – it truly takes a team,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Anysia Trevino in a public statement. “Alice ISD is a district on the rise. Let’s keep moving forward together toward becoming an “A” district in 2027,” she concluded with pride.
Alice ISD leadership appears confident that this positive trend will continue and reaffirmed their commitment to becoming an “A” rated district. Strong public schools are truly a reflection of their communities, so these victories don’t just belong to Alice ISD leadership, faculty, and staff — but the Alice community that comes together time and time again for their students.
