The Alice Coyotes continued their undefeated football season Friday night, defeating the Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets 34-16 on the road.
Alice improved its record to 8-0 with the victory, continuing a strong season as the Coyotes push through district play.
The Reporter spoke with senior Ryder Salaiz, #5, who scored a touchdown tonight, about his team’s victory.
“Tonight’s win feels amazing. All the hard work we put in paid off. Going through adversity together with my brothers and overcoming difficult times really shows what we are as a team,” Salaiz said.
The fourth quarter in tonight’s game saw several players on both teams disqualified for unsportsmanlike conduct, following brief scuffles that created a contentious moment on field.
In the final minute of the game, Alice intercepted the ball on a pass and quickly scored, bringing their total up to 34 and expanding to an 18-point lead.
The victory keeps Alice’s perfect season intact as the Coyotes look to maintain their momentum heading into their next game against the Zapata Hawks on November 6.
