The Jim Wells County Fair will return Oct. 21-24, bringing a week of livestock shows, agricultural competitions, carnival attractions, family activities, live music and community traditions to the Alice area.

The annual fair will feature a full schedule of events centered on youth agriculture, livestock exhibitions and community participation, with activities taking place throughout the week at the Jim Wells County Fairgrounds.

Along with the livestock competitions and agricultural exhibits, the carnival will offer another attraction for fairgoers, adding to the family-friendly atmosphere and giving visitors more opportunities to enjoy the annual celebration.

Livestock competitions will be a major part of the festivities, with exhibitors showcasing cattle, goats, sheep, rabbits, poultry and swine. The schedule includes multiple livestock shows, judging events, weigh-ins and sales, giving participants an opportunity to display their animals and compete for recognition.

The fair will also highlight the work of local students through vocational shop projects, homemaking competitions and other educational exhibits. Visitors will have opportunities to view student projects and exhibits throughout the week, while selected events will feature presentations and awards recognizing participants’ efforts.

The public schedule begins Wednesday, Oct. 21, with market lamb and goat shows, poultry judging, student project presentations and opportunities for the public to view and purchase selected exhibits. Wednesday will also feature the Jim Wells County Fair Parade in Downtown Alice, followed by the Queen’s Pageant back at the Pavilion.

Additional livestock shows and competitions will take place Thursday, Oct. 22, including rabbit and gilt shows, followed by the fair’s talent contest. Friday, Oct. 23, will bring more livestock competitions, including steer, heifer and goat shows, as well as the overall showmanship contest and ranch rodeo.

Live music will add to Friday and Saturday’s festivities. TexManiacs are scheduled to perform Friday night from 9:30 p.m. to midnight, while Jerry N the Ruffnex will take the stage Saturday night at 9 p.m. Saturday’s schedule also includes the Peewee Goat Show, junior livestock auction, homemaking item pickup and bull riding.

The fair will conclude Sunday, Oct. 25, with the release of livestock entries and vocational shop projects. According to the published schedule, all livestock entries and vocational shop projects must be removed by noon or become the property of the Jim Wells County Fair Association. Outside and inside merchants must also vacate the premises by 11 a.m.

With livestock competitions, student exhibits, carnival attractions, live entertainment and traditional fair activities, the Jim Wells County Fair will once again bring together families, exhibitors and community members to celebrate our local agricultural heritage.
